The Contrarian: The Rural Revolt Against Trump Is Real (w/ Blue Missouri’s Jess Piper)

Jen Rubin of The Contrarian interviews the Executive Director of Blue Missouri, Jess Piper, to explain the surprising success of Democrats in red America. Since Trump has regained office, 27 Democrats have flipped seats in elections, whereas not a single Republican has done the same.

They engage in a political debate about what political tactics and campaign strategy other Democrats can adopt. The pair also discuss the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) pushback against Trump’s claim that Alex Pretti’s murder was justified because he was carrying a gun, and how Democrats need to run for office in uncontested districts. Tariffs, faith, political science, and more comes up in the wide-ranging interview.
